Week 1 - Ideation

Hello!
In this blog, I will be updating my progress during SCAD x Harbor Picture Company collaboration class. I am part of a Real-Time team called Team Rouge, and our members are:

The prompt for this project was to create an advertisement for the “LUXE” products, and we chose Christian Louboutin Red Bottoms. The initial concept of Red Bottoms was a woman walking through the street like the runway, and as she steps, the world changes to the red carpet. Then, the paparazzi camera flashes on the red carpet, and she will be posing at the end to showcase the Red Bottoms.
Before we met again on Friday, our group decided to gather references, draw thumbnail sketches, and create a 3D previs to start our project.

On Friday, our team gathered the ideas along with the visuals and arranged the shots to create the initial storyboard shown below. As we worked on the pitch presentation for coming Tuesday, we decided to change the color from red to gold to create specialty and also keep the Luke theme going.
We also divided the responsibilities for each shot because there are three effects artists and two lighting artists in our team. For the lighting, I'll be responsible for lighting the full CG shots (Shot 1, 2, 5, and 7) and Julian will be responsible for the LED Volume shots (Shot 3, 4, and 6).

For the final concept art, Jingxing created most of the visuals in Maya, and I helped her with creating highlights onto the heels. The heel asset hasn't been not finalized yet, but this concept art shows the aesthetics our group is going for.
